Laurent Minguet is a French multidisciplinary artist and designer, who lives and works in Toulouse in France.
Mastering acrilic techniques, his body of work focuses on landscapes and hyperurbanization. He depicts scenes from the world's megalopolises in a monochrome hyperrealism accompanied by large pictorial incursions.
Laurent Minguet paints on fine timber, walnut, cherry, or oak species, or even on marble, carefully selected for their random veining. His line, precise and essential, meticulously traces and reconstructs architectural and urban details in a photographic rigor. The painting reproduces the contrasts of a natural light in acrylic washes that integrate into the very material of the substrate, allowing us to enter deep into his hyperrealism.
The strength of his compositions is underlined by the pictorial material, raw, deposited, thrown, dripping or geometric. This graphic trace destabilizes our perception and finally guides us towards a materialist realism that reveal the fundamental of what is a pictorial work, the material and the color. The subject itself - the city, its life, its icons - is then revealed in a continuity of transparency between the colored materials and the veins of the substrate to transport us into an immersion that is both geographical, conceptual and aesthetic.
